All the players of Kolkata FF that I know are absolutely sure that the old chart is full of patterns. “Bhai, 2 aaya hai, ab 7 pakka aayega” is the motto of every tea stall discussion about Fatafat. Thus, I decided to test the hypothesis, collect some old data from ffkolkata.net and to discover how successfully the “patterns” work.
Methodology of My Test
I have collected 30 days of Kolkata FF results for all 8 Bajis, which resulted in approximately 240 Patti and single digit entries. Then, I have created a tracker on a spread sheet, without any complex programs, but just columns with date, number of Baji, Patti, single digit and day-to-day change of Patti and/or single digit. The following factors were traced:
- Repetitions of each single digit from 0 to 9.
- Repeating Pattis in the week period.
- The streaks, when the same single digit hits twice or thrice in a row.
- Mirror or reverse Pattis such as 245 – 542.
What Has Actually Been Found During My Test
Unfortunately, it was the time for disappointment. The number of each single digit for 30 days was quite steady, and most of the digits had around 24 hits, whereas only few digits had 27 or 21 hits. But it is statistically possible, and absolutely normal for the sample of the data. There was no domination of any digit, despite the players’ belief that 3 and 7 digits were “hot” during those days.
The Results of Streak Test Were Even More Unfavorable
The streak test had revealed that there were 2-in-a-row and even 3-in-a-row streaks, but they appeared just as frequently as expected by probability theory. Therefore, a random coin flip generator could produce similar clusters of digits. Moreover, mirror-Patti theory had failed, as most mirror-Pattis had been revealed to be coincidental with no connection between them.
The Reason Why Players See Patterns Everywhere
The reason why the old charts are full of “patterns” is called the confirmation bias. We remember the 2 or 3 successful hunches and forget the 20 unsuccessful ones. However, the Kolkata Fatafat results are independent events, meaning that there is absolutely no correlation between the result of 4th Baji in Tuesday and the one in Wednesday. The old chart shows only the history, but not the probability of the future results, which is the main mistake that most of the players make.
The Real Value of the Old Chart
Despite the fact that the pattern hypothesis has failed, there are several legitimate reasons to use the old chart:
- The learning of digit-sum method by checking old results.
- The tracking of your own betting and calculating of the exact win/loss ratio.
- The preparation to the game using the old chart without any financial risks.
- The check whether Bajis are cancelled and finding unusual results gaps.
Conclusion
The answer after 30 days of testing the old chart is obvious – no, it does not contain any patterns to help to predict tomorrow’s Baji based on today’s results. But the fact that we tend to see shapes in the randomness shows another important thing. Use the old results from kolkataff.net for preparation and learning, but if you try to predict tomorrow’s 3rd Baji based on Monday’s 7th Baji result, you just throw away coins with unnecessary additional procedures.
